You must register on line through this website. Click through to the participating campuses page (on the right hand side of this page) to check out if your campus / institute is an AACA member.
If it is, click on your campus / institute link to find out/request important information on your local section of the competition for details regarding the requirements and dates of local heats, cut off dates, equipment requirements etc.. This will take you to either a website with information on your local competition or an email address of your local coordinator.
Once you are happy with the details of your local competition (and make sure they have not already been run), click on the registration page to enter your bands details. Please note you will need to have your bands bio, a press quality photo (between 700k - 1MB), website details and contact details for each of your band members to complete the registration page.

National Campus Band Competition (NCBC)

The National Campus Band Competition (NCBC) is the largest live band competition in the southern hemisphere! NCBC has been running on Australian University and TAFE campuses across the country for 18 years providing audiences with some truly memorable moments and memorable bands. Each year up to 1000 bands from over 80 institutions compete live looking to be crowned national winners of this prestigious and highly respected competition.
NCBC is a great way to get live music experience under your bands belt, not to mention some great prizes and media and record company attention. Previous winners and entrants have included: Eskimo Joe, The Vines, Jebediah, George, Grinspoon, Waikiki, Frenzal Rhomb, 78 Saab, Augie March and Vasco Era, to name but a few…
The competitions local campus heats run from May – August (campus heats and regional finals –please check your local campus organizer for exact dates), with State Finals in September and the National Final in October. It is your responsibility to check with your local participating campus regarding the dates of local heats.
Playing Times
Each band will be allocated 20 minutes to perform. There will be a minimum of 10 minutes to change over between bands.
Equipment
Unless otherwise notified by your local NCBC coordinator you should expect to be sharing backline equipment with other bands playing on the night. This normally includes Drum Kit and Amplifiers. Typical equipment would be • 1 x drum kit eg. 1 x Pearl Drum Kit. 22” Bass Drum, 12” + 13” Mounted Toms, 16” Floor Tom, 6 and a half” Snare, 1x set cymbals (Paiste or Zildjian), 14” High Hats, 16” + 18” Crash, 20” Ride, hardware (stands) to suit• 2 x guitar amp eg. Marshall JCM800 Combo and Fender Twin Reverb Combo • 1 x bass amp eg. 1 x Trace Elliot AH200 Bass head and 1 x Trace Elliot 1048 Cabinet
Sound provision
A sound engineer will be supplied for you for your performance. This is not negotiable and is a condition of entry.
Judging
Judging criteria applied by the NCBC Judges will be as follows:
30 points: Originality of material
30 points: Musicianship
20 points: Stage Presentation
10 points: Recording Viability
10 points: Audience Response
