About the Competition

The National Campus DJ Comp is one of Australia's premier national DJ competitions, backed by over 30 university and TAFE student unions throughout Australia. The annual competition gives student DJs the opportunity to mix it with the industry's best, giving them valuable experience and feedback from seasoned DJs and helping them to hone their skills. Participation levels for NCDJC have continued to grow steadily over the years adding to the competition and overall standard.

The competition runs from, March until June each year. It is your responsibility to check with your local participating campus regarding the dates of local heats.

How the DJ Comp runs varies from campus to campus. Get in touch with your Campus Co-ordinator for specific details!

The 2013 Nation Campus DJ is Now Open! Proudly presented By AACA, Sound Agents, Store DJ, Entertainment Embassy & The Search, this year there will be bigger prizes, fatter beats and the chance for a trip to Ibiza!

And the winner for 2012 National Campus DJ Comp is....

STORM KING! www.soundcloud.com/storm_king who beat out Mean Dartin (SYD) & Meet Mark (WA). 
We had Deacon Rose (Triple J), Alison Wonderland (Sydney), K.C (3 x Australian DMC winner) and Prequel (Dj/Producer) doing an awesome job judging .

Storm King's prize package included a set at Stereosonic, an interview and live set on Melbourne's Kiss FM and $500 cash.

...and the winner is Adrien Guyot from VICTORIA!

It was a packed house at the Royal Melbourne Hotel (VIC) on Thursday 23 June for the National Campus DJ Comp National Final, as a part of RMIT University's EOX (End of Exams) party. The three student DJs impressed the judges with their skill and professionAndrew Guyot_Vic_2011_NCDJalism. In the end, it was a tight finish, with the RMIT University DJ coming out in front!

The results for the 2011 NCDJC Grand Final:
1st: Adrien Guyot (VIC)
2nd: Chris Moro (Uni of WA)
3rd: Comrade Dubs (Southern Cross Uni, NSW)

As the winner, Adrien scored $500 cash thanks to AACA and a 45 minute set at Stereosonic. Chris won brand new, cutting edge DJ software courtesy of Avid/M-Audio. We're looking forward to the DJ Comp being even bigger and better next year, with more uni's and TAFEs involved and an ongoing relationship with our excellent sponsors.

How to Enter

You must enter online through this website. Check the participating campuses page to make sure your campus/institute is an AACA member.

If so, click on your campus/institute link to request information on your local section of the competition for details regarding the local heats, cut off dates etc.

Once you are happy with the details of your local competition, go to the Entry Form and complete the entry details (make sure you read and accept the terms and conditions first!). Your local coordinator will get in touch with details on your local section of the competition.

Please note this process may take up to two weeks – so get in early!

How to Compete

Typical Playing Times
Each DJ will be allocated 10 minutes to perform. There will be a maximum of 5 minutes to change over between DJ's. Please note this format may vary slightly - please check the playing times etc. with your local NCDJC coordinator.

Sound System and DJ Equipment (may vary between campuses)
1 x frame or stable table
2 x Technics SL 1200 Turntables
2 x Pioneers CDJ 1000 CD Turntables (or similar)
1 x Pioneer DJM600 DJ Mixer or Numark FX 5000 4 Channel
1 x DJ Scratch Mixer (if your DJ's need one – check with them first)
A PA with foldback (so the DJ can hear themselves)
A Mic for MC
(Sorry peeps, this is a laptop free event, CDs and records only) 


Sound Provision
A sound engineer/tech should be supplied for you for your performance.

Judging Criteria
Judging criteria applied by the NCBC Judges will be as follows:
a. Originality of Material 20 points
b. Stage presence 20 points
c. Audience Response 10 points
d. Transition and Level control 20 points
e. Performance Skills / Technical Ability 30 points
